Our Philosophy
A Respect for Space
Akara was born from a desire to elevate everyday environments. We believe that the objects you choose to live with shouldn't just fill space—they should define it. Our designs are rooted in the timeless geometries of Indian architecture, reimagined for the modern world.
Every curve, angle, and texture is intentionally crafted to interact with light and cast meaningful shadows, bringing a quiet, sculptural presence to your home.
Our Process
Every Akara object is digitally sculpted with meticulous attention to form and proportion. We then bring these designs into the physical world using advanced FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology, utilizing specialized matte and textured bio-polymers.
The distinctive layer lines inherent to the 3D printing process are not hidden; rather, they are celebrated. By carefully controlling extrusion rates and layer heights, we create a ribbed, tactile surface finish that mimics the ribbed textures found in traditional pottery and woven baskets.
Sustainability
Traditional manufacturing often relies on mass production, leading to excessive waste and unsold inventory. At Akara, we operate on a strictly on-demand basis. An object is only brought into existence when you choose it. Furthermore, our primary materials are derived from renewable resources like corn starch, making them significantly more environmentally friendly than petroleum-based plastics.
